Remember where in my last article I wanted to do a house tour? Well this isn't that. Why? Because I subbed, logged into my house, proceeded to work on the 2kki article one night, then didn't play again and messed around with my nanoblocks, and then proceeded to finally log in on that day only to realize that once it hit midnight that my free 4 days were up because... it kickedme offline. Looks like I'm going to have to sub at some point. But considering patch 7.2 is soon, I might sub closer to that and get story done, and continue from there. At least I have a while before I have to go in my house again, which feels a bit wrong, but sometimes I just don't have the time to play, so it becomes hard to want to spend the money.
Oh well, enough about that. Let's talk about something further back that I wanted to do. I said I'd finally post some of the YGO merch that I got, as well as do a room tour, that I was just kind of waiting for some stuff to come in so I could ship it out. Well, that stuff finally came recently, so it's finally room tour time.
Starting off with the wide shot of my room. I think this type of view makes everything look really cosy, but might also make things seem cluttery and busy. Oh well. Not really sure what to say on that. I won't lie, I didn't use to have that many posters up. But one day I cleaned out my closet and noticed how many I had. I still have more that are put away, as well. Maybe one day I'll have a space for them all. But for now? A lot of them vibe on those walls.
From this angle, you can't really see my cabinet or my dresser either.
Honestly, if there's one thing I could add to this space, it'd be some sort of canopy around my bed. I think it'd be good to kind of enclose it. I've also been wanting a bench for the end of my bed, so I could put the bigger plushies on it, but considering Felix moved himself in one night, I don't think I'll be getting one for a while. I want him to have breathing space, even if he likes to hang out in his bed.
I decided it'd be kind of fun to do the opposite angle here. I'm not really sure why. Either way, this is the view I get when I'm sleeping. Honestly, most of this view I really like, minus the really big double mirrors. Don't know why, I just don't like being able to see mirrors when I sleep. They kind of freak me out. Huge part of why I grabbed the Miku poster and put her on the mirror. I think I might have a bigger one I could put there as well, but I think Miku goes well with the star lights. I wont lie, when I bought them, I thought they'd be a lot smaller. The intention was to hang them with the Kaiba tapestry because it looked really empty there, but then they were too big for that area. I tried initially wrapping them in some weird way, decided I hated it, and then decided that i would take down all the blue lights, wrap them around the room the opposite way and put the star lights around the closet, so I could put the power box ontop of the detolf. It was annoying to do, but it was worth it.
Anyways, time to break things down into sections.
I suppose the best place to start would be the main reason to enter my room whenever I'm not sleeping. This is my desk. If I really wanted to make it seem fancy, I'd call it a work station. However, that feels like straight up lying. Work doesn't get done here. From the wide shot you can see the view of some of my little drawers and what not, as well as my whiteboard. One of them contains all my regular pens & pencils as well as my thumbdrives & all my spare keychain bits. The other contains stuff like my washi tape, stickers, and cords I like easy access to. The whiteboard with all the stickers on it was originally bought so I could write raid notes on it. It used to have all my TEA diagrams at one point. The rest of it is stuff like notebooks, some trading figures, acrylic stands, and what not. And my playmat, which I keep covered, so it doesn't get messed up while I'm working on art. The top shelves have more of the same types of anime merch, as well as some CDs tucked away that didn't really fit with my other stuff. And the top shelf plays host to my nailpolishes and Playstations until I figure out what to put there. Knowing me, the Master Chief helmet will probably get moved back after I start filling the bookcase in with more figures. The posters up there are all from the Pokemon Center minus Kaiba who is from a recent Ichiban Kuji. They were all similarly sized, so I just stuck them together. Needs some fake plants.
Oh, and at the side is my rig. I wish it had LEDs, but those aren't too hard to add. Still, it looks really clean and at some point I definitely need to connect an optical drive or something. Oh, and more RAM. I'm getting distracted thinking about it, so time to move on to the next section.
Here's the other view of the desk. This is my monitor and all it's surroundings. Honestly, the monitor itself is pretty old, and my goal is to replace it and get 2 new ones. I don't think I'll do wall mounted though. While it does save space, I change the stuff on my walls out too frequently. So I'll probably just get another monitor stand and put that up. On the side of that is my Switch, which gets used every once in a great while, as well as my cable hydra. I've been told by some that it looks better than most, to which all I can say is "I guess"? I just feel like it could be cleaner.
Other than that is just my lamp, where I keep all my post its, another set of drawers that holds my premade decks, my old camera, my Gameboy, a lot of my TCG accessories, and then just odds & ends that I have nowhere else to put. There's stuff like my shelf's wall mounting hardware in there which I still haven't gotten around to doing, and a collectible silver dollar that I got as a gift.
Surrounding my monitor is more trading figures and acrylic stands. I keep some of my favorites here, like the Cheshire Cat Yamato from a Kuji collab that I just absolutely love, as well as my little Tarlach stand from Mabinogi, because that's the only piece of merch of him. Another thing that lives next to my monitor is my oldest figure that I still have, which is a Pinky:st. Rei Ayanami. I got her back in '07 at a mall with one of my exes. We split the pack: He got Asuka and I got Rei.
At the side of the desk is where I keep all my art supplies & packing supplies. I won't go too in depth about these because I honestly don't have anything remarkable in here. Maybe the only thing of note would be that I also keep all my spare bulk here as well because if there's anything I have a lot of, it's modern Pokemon bulk. Not saying that like it's a bad thing, but I don't like to store my bulk in binders anymore. It just takes up too much room.
On the little shelves beneath the desk is where I keep all my spare Nendoroid parts. Beneath that is where I had a lot of my artbooks, but I moved them over to the bookshelves. They will return though, when I have more figures to add there. But I don't plan on putting figures at the bottom until I have doors for it so, that'll probably be a while.
Anyways, moving upwards, these are the walls of above the monitor. This is where a good lot of my CDs are. If you've seen the music page, then you've probably seen the shot of this shelf back when I had all my CDs on this shelf. I took it down though, because they were so crowded that I had to put CDs in another unit in my house just to be able to hang onto them. So most of this up there right now is imported or related to games. I also have most of my Granblue Valentines displayed with the little clip lights, as well as my lanyard from the artRAVE. At the very edges of the shelf host one of my many Yamato Itabags, this one being a clutch that's decorated primarily with MonGen can badges. On the other side is the BRING-ARTS Estinien Wyrmblood figure. This guy is unfortunate. He broke right out the box for me, which is weird because I haven't had any other figure of mine do that, and I've had ones that are far more fragile than him. I think I've told this story multiple times, but he was the final reason that I'd never buy another Square Enix figure. I used to have the old Play Arts Axel from 2008 or so and that one also broke right after I got it. Hell, the only one I got that didn't break immediately was the old Roxas. Anyways I always hear Sqex figure horror stories and I honestly believe them all due to my own experiences.
On the walls are a variety of things. I have the Amiami bonus poster from GBVS, as well as a really big Rita tapestry from the TOV Remaster. I honestly had no idea this existed, and I wonder if there's more. I just kind of stumbled onto it on Surugaya one day and grabbed it because it was less than 3 dollars. Moving over to the other side, I have my flower crown for the costume I wore to the artRAVE. Me & my younger sister dressed as faeries. I also have a few dream catchers, 2 of them being gifts, and 1 of them being one that just randomly came in the mail from a casino or something. I tend to keep a lot of the dream catchers I was given, as I originally started to do so because my great grandmother used to buy me them when I was younger. I used to have horrible nightmares and she gave it to me telling me that it'd hopefully help them go away. I also have a really cute fake potted plant (because I don't trust myself with real ones), yet another Granblue poster, and then the Cursed Kaiba Canvas Art From Ross. It's not actually cursed though. I just couldn't stop laughing when I saw him there. I wasn't going to buy it but I saw a girl wearing the most Wolf-Shirt-Energy-esque Itachi shirt, and I was like, "If she can wear Wolf Shirt Itachi, I can get Cursed Kaiba Canvas." And I bought it.
Anyways, let's move onto the shelves.
This was the shelving unit that I dragged everyone to Ikea over. It's... just a basic Billy bookshelf, and I didn't even get it in the white like I wanted to, but honestly, I don't hate the birch. In all honesty, it's really inspired me on what I'd like to do next with my room, which is refinish some of the newer furniture that I got. My goal is to paint the sides white and leave the shelves wood colored, and then add white doors with glass. I also need to worry about lighting at some point, but we'll get to that later. I also would like to paint the desk white as well as vinyl wrap certain parts with a light birch pattern. to match, as well as doing the same to the dresser, but like... we'll get there eventually. Unfortunately the little knock-off kallax has to go because it has a decent amount of water damage at the bottom. Though I generally need more space anyways, so a 3x3 kallax would be nice.
The way they're set up right now isn't how they'll be. After all, I bought this primarily to put figures on, but I can't have it being empty. So for right now it has most of my media. Behind Raven at the top is the first 5 volumes of Honey & Clover, as well as the complete set of the Empty Mask manga adaptation & a random Generation 1 Mabinogi manga that never went past 2 volumes. There's also some stuff I put up there for the sake of taking up space, because it looks so awkward when it's empty. I plan on dedicating this top shelf (which will be lowered in the future) to the Tales Of series. Mostly because it's the series that I want to rebuy my figures from the most. I did not want to part with them, and nothing would make me happier than to have a complete collection of Vesperia figures. Or, well, at least the 1/8 Alter line.
This is the Halo shelf, which is primarily Halo with a side of Jojo stuff that's covered by this random Adachi picture I printed while testing my printer. I'm sure you can tell I love Halo. I don't really have much to say about this shelf other than it's also getting changed in the future. But also, man I wish I had an Xbox 360 still.
Yugioh Shelf. Might as well be the Kaiba shelf primarily. In the future it will be dedicated solely to Kaiba though, once I put Yet Another Kaiba There. Unfortunatley the others will be evicted to a different shelf. Not that it matters because I plan to keep my Yugioh stuff grouped up. More will be added to this area though, that's for sure. If there's any collection I'd like to finish, it's the Kotobukiya Duel Monsters stuff, as well as getting some of the Amakuni stuff. IDK. I'm not too concerned about having literally every single Yugioh figure or even every Kaiba figure. I just think he's neat and really just want the Megahouse one as the centerpiece of that shelf.
The rack is honestly just because I bought 2, not realizing how much I could fit on 1, so I put it there as a bit of a placeholder. I'm probably going to move it at some point later. but I also think I'm going to move quite a few posters around at some point as well, because I have a bad habit of doing that. I'm indecisive, but I feel like pushing myself to find a place for everything in my room and reconsider about what I bring into my room keeps me more conscious of what I buy. Which is probably for the best.
Another shelf of stuff I put so it'd take up space. My big Yamato itabag, which I finally repinned at some point late last year. There's also a little box that I displayed some of my rubber straps in. And then at the very end is the rest of my Granblue Valentines, particularly the ones related to Drang, as well as some other stuff with him. These don't total up to 300 dollars, but I don't think they'll ever have 300 dollars worth of Drang merch. So I can just cry about it I guess. I also have a cute side table lamp.
Yeah, I'm combining these. Not much to say. These are absolutely added in to take up space. Lotta pens and markers, some paper stars, some old LAMB perfumes, and a picture of our cat, which my sister begged for. I really miss him. We got him near the end of grade school for me, which was all of gradeschool for her. Nobody could agree on what to name him, so we just called him "boy." He went missing around the time we moved into our grandparents house at the end of highschool. Really miss him every day, even if it's been 17 years. Sometimes when I'm asleep, I can feel the soft steps of a cat on my bed, and I like to think it's him.
The bottom shelf is a collection of artbooks, mostly from Final Fantasy XIV. There's also one of those jellyfish lamps that I was given for Christmas, as well as my sketchbooks, and my doujinshi collection, which I may talk about in a later entry.
I should really move that lamp though, considering it has water in it...
So, I'm not going to go over the bed section in depth. I know some people say that "corner bed is bad" but also, I'm not working with a lot of space here, so Corner is what it has to be. My bed is pretty comfy though, so I do generally like it. But I wont lie, it's probably the most busy part of my room. For some, it's probably overwhelming. I think in my case though, because I always have my back to it, I don't tend to feel that way. It was strategial, just trust me...
Also, yes I have a lot of plushies on my bed. Yes I sleep with that. They will defend me from any sort of Babadook that gets in my room. I believe in them.
I won't really go over these in depth. A few bigger posters surrounded by a variety of smaller things. My favorite items are the 2 magazine covers that I saved over years and years. The Newtype cover is from 2003 while the Play cover is from 2007.
So, this is what I replaced my itaboards with. I like the look of this a bit more, but I definitely can't put can badges on it without a struggle. Thats why so many things are just tossed on lanyards while I figure out what the hell to do with them. I kind of dislike the look of the lanyards tbh but that's another problem for another day.
One of the other issues I have with this is that some of these might be stuck on here because I can't just easily remove them. Oopsies I guess. Not like it matters, this is pretty easy to lift off the wall and put back on. But the first night I had it up, only had 2 hooks on it and it fell off in the middle of the night and scared the hell out of me.
Not much to say here, just more posters. The Yugioh one was a bonus for DSOD, which I can't ever find on it's own outside of DVD format in Japanese only, at least not for sale. I've only seen a copy in English as it's own thing at the library. Why can the local library own Seto Kaiba the Movie but not me?
Not much to say here, other than these are my bags. I didn't want to sentence them to being locked in the closet, so I stuck them on the wall and on my lamp. Though some are still in my closet oops. Anyways, some of them have pins on them, but the green one is so damaged from being stored improperly because it's pleather. One day I'll learn how to remake it though... I'm just hesitant to throw it out because not only was it a gift, but it's Yamato themed.
Edit: So I wrote this and took pictures later, but I didn't realize how bad most of my attempts to get a shot of the lamp and all my bags was going to be, so uh, yeah sorry about that.
This here is my little media console of sorts, I suppose. The top houses my Tsumtsum & Mochis. Meanwhile the bottom has things like my games, dvds, etc. Inside of the little cloth drawers is more dvds & cords and stuff. At some point, I need to make sure to go through all of it. I keep saying I'm going to do that, but with the dog in here all the time, it's a bit hard to get in that area.
Pray for this unit though. It's right near the window and it's raining and it already has water damage from the time our water heater leaked. It doesn't help that the window is also leaking.
Here's some of my plushies. I honestly only hung up the ones that had some sort of ball chain or other clip, as well as the ones that were standing. Some of the sitting ones are awkward to hang up, and the laying bunnies don't look good hung up at all. Below that is 2 of my GBF posters, but at some point I'm probably going to move those. I tried to put them staggered so it wouldn't look awkward but truth be told, I think it just looks awkward in general.
Here's Felix. This is where he sleeps now. Ever since Oscar passed away, he's not been doing so well (Emotionally, that is. Physically, he's in pretty good health.) It's been about 6 or 7 weeks now, and he hasn't gotten used to being alone. For the last week, it's been hard getting him to even stay in the laundry room while we're out. He learned how to open the gate as well, which is kind of funny in a way. So yeah, he just sleeps here.
Honestly, I didn't know how to take a good picture of this, but here's all the stuff above my mirror. I just slapped them there because I really didn't know what to do with them. Also, I guess I should add. The Mickey cell on the top I've had for a very long time. Probably since I was around 12.
Not much to say, other than that this is my dresser. I have most of the Yamato stuff I decided to keep here, because I really don't have a place for most of them. I should probably have gotten one of those little postcard books that they sell at Daiso or something, but in all honesty, it's just going to encourage me to fill it. So for now, having all my bromides and other paper items on display here just kind of works. I don't have much to say about my Makeup other than having it all keeps me interracting with it.
Here's my other cabinet dedicated to figures. Honestly, for the longest time I only had this one, and it was getting really crowded. I know part of that was because I insisted on making a shelf solely dedicated to Kaiba and not shoving the rest of the Yugioh stuff with him but ehhhh. Whatever. Also yes, I have a lot of those sticky gelly window clings and they're all out of season. I don't really care though. I've had the alligator since 2007 or so. It's not leaving my room until it's completely melted.
Top of the detolf has all my TCG boxes, and some acrylic stands. Honestly I never know whwere to put ETB boxes, so I figure having things on display here kind of works. It's not like I buy ETBs all that often, anyways. I also have my Blazblue Central Fiction collector's box up there.
Honestly, I'm not sure what the theme here for this shelf is, other than just "Women." That's it. Anyways, it has my Yukari scale, my only NSFW figure (that I bought moreso because she looked similar to one of my Mabi chasracters), and quite a few prize figures. In the future, I'll probably turn this into a space filled with OCs, because I have a few others on the way. If not that, it'll probably get turned into a pink shelf.
Honestly, this is my most overcrowded shelf. I honestly need to do something about it, which will probably be placing the noodle stoppers in other places. For now though, Miku shelf. I do love Miku. Pretty much all of these are prizes, but I honestly like the Miku prize figures they put out these days. One day, I'd like to get some of the scales I really want for this area as well, but that's a plan for later.
This shelf is kind of bare right now, I won't lie. I kind of need more stuff to stick here. I did recently get the Altina figure, which was honestly a steal. She was around 24 dollars on Suru. I had wanted her for a really long time, so I went ahead and got her. I've never played Shining series, but I am admittedly a fan of Tony Taka's work. I really love the designs. So one day, maybe I will check the games out. Never against playing more RPGs.
The bottom of the shelf holds all of my Nendoroids, as well as a few petites. I expect to see this shelf fill out a bit more over the rest of the year, as I have more Nendos on the way. Truth be told, I'd like to move the Nendos and the Figmas on the shelf above to their own space. I kind of would like to buy 1 more cabinet, one of those smaller budget ones from Ikea. I think it was baggebo line. Either way, I think it'd be a good space for the posable things I have, as well as some of my trading figures and noodle stoppers. I think I'll worry about that in the future though, as I would like to prioritize other things first.
A view of the posters next to the door, as well as some of the stuff on the side of the detolf. Truth be told, I have these here because I want to distract from the Lily figure as much as possible. As for the wall itself, I don't know, it just looks blank. I honestly wish I was able to find this tapestry in the 100cm size because it's honestly much smaller than I expected it to be. I think next time there's Yugioh tapestries that are large, I'm just going to order one. I missed out on the latest one because I hesitated and I really regret it. Though in all honesty, I do love the design, I just wish it was longer.
I won't lie, I kind of hate this wall simply because it's so awkward.
Finally, we're at the plushie prison net that hangs on the back of my wall. Yeah, I really do have a lot. I should probably go through them and put a few in the goodwill bin or something. Or maybe give a few to Felix, considering he doesn't really chew anything up. Still, a lot of these just accumulated over the years. At some point, I got rid of half of them, but they came back. Most of them sat in a bin for the longest time where they just took up space in the closet, so I'm kind of glad they're out here. I'm trying to refrain from buying too many plush these days. I don't want them to immediately just go in the net, after all.
To end everything off, here's a picture of my space when it's dark, with some of the smaller lights on.
Anyways, that's pretty much it. This took a long time to write, surprisingly. With that out of the way, I'm going back to working on some of the other things I need to get done.
