Mabinogi Character Sorter Update Log

Also, for those who are unsure as to what this is: It's meant to be similar to the Touhou Character Sorter and other similar tools, where you pit characters against the other, and the winner is the one you like more. The end result is meant to give you a numbered list of how much you like each character. Please enjoy.

2026.02.07

Not much in terms of updates, but I finally brought the sorter off of HTML & CSS 4.01. It's a very minor thing, and honestly it's not perfect (after all, there's a bit of an issue where I cannot for the life of me figure out why there's a single pixel line of padding at the bottom of the image field), but it's better than nothing. We also have a background to go with the new layout, but only for legibility. Colors have been updated to go with the new layout as well.

The next time I update will be new characters for the latest chapter & the latest arcana NPCs. I don't think much more has been added since Gen 27 & like 4 new arcana characters I haven't slotted in yet.

2025.07.27

After putting it off for several months, I finally decided to update this. Added the following batches of characters:

  • G21, even though it was just 1 character
  • The entirety of Chapter 7, that being G22-25, was added. There's a few alt versions of certain npcs but I just grabbed a list of npcs and went with that.
  • G26 has been added, but I haven't double checked the NPCs as I haven't played it yet. I'll probably play it in the upcoming week finally.
  • A ton of sidequest characters relating to various Halloween & Samhain events were added, as well as a lot of job NPCs. Wiki didn't have transparent images of Nael & Delaney, so I made them myself. I'll put them in the graphics later, cos why let the effort go to waste.
  • I think I got all the new NPCs that are just for new systems they implemented, but I'm unsure.

In total, I added 67 NPCs. I still have to go double check where certain NPCs appear and what not, because Gen 6&7 have characters that appear from older generations. I haven't really double checked the NPC roster in a while. Also for some reason the Baltane Unit characters are under Side Stories? Uncertain if I should move them, but I'm not sure why they were in that grouping (though I think it has to do with the fact that I renamed it from 'Side Characters' as well.)

If anything is missing, you're free to tell me and I'll try to update somewhat sooner.

Also, I did not add NPCs without portraits. Some NPC have commissioned portraits on the Wiki and if I'm going to add said NPCs, I will have to ask Wiki staff, which I don't plan on doing until things are triple checked on having every NPC. So, that's on the backburner.

At some point, I need to fix how the table generates at the end. But that's a problem for another day.

2025.02.01

Found this archived in my dropbox and decided to rehost it, simply for the sake of it being online. I think most of these styles of sites have died off. The Touhou sorter doesn't seem to be online anymore, nor does the Touken Ranbu one. Pretty much every credit on the front page is dead. Either way, I've left them, but be aware that they lead nowhere.

At some point, I'll go through and add additional characters. I believe Generation 21-26 are missing, as well as side story stuff. The latest NPCs that I see from events and extra stories seem to be Samhain, the ghost Halloween event, and the Waffle Witch but there's stuff like all the recent side stories, Blaanid, and other Talent npcs like Arcana, Pet stuff, etc. God there's been so much added that thinking on it all really requires concentrating. Maybe I'll go join the Mabinogi discord and see if I can get help compiling a list. Anyways, going to integrate this into the site, I suppose. I'll tackle the additions later.

I would also like to add that the mabisorter itself isn't exactly keyboard friendly to my knowledge. I don't know how to do it, but I can see what I can do in the future to improve that. Note that it might take a while. Like everything else on this site, it's a work in progress.
