MOMOROSER 1/6 Training Joshi Aoi

It's definitely been a while since I've done a review. I have a ton of pictures I need to retake and even more in the backlog, so in consideration of getting content out and done so it's no longer weighing on my mind aimlessly, you're getting all the stuff that belongs to a friend that I was planning on reviewing several months back. Since I no longer have the figures on me, I can't really retake any of these images in case they look weird, but let's hope they don't!

Moving on, today we're looking at MOMOROSER's Training Joshi Aoi or Exercise Girl or one of her other names because it seems she has quite a few. Like, the entry on MFC has a different name than the one on the box, and then I've seen people refer to her as other things. For simplicity's sake and the fact that I'm a bit lazy, I'll be refering to her as Aoi for this review, because "Joshi" just means woman, and Aoi is a pretty common girls name in Japan it seems.

Before I get into this review, I want to state a few things. I clearly didn't buy this figure. This belongs to a friend. I also believe they just kind of bought it because they thought it was a neat design, they wanted a lewd figure that didn't cross the line too much, and they settled on this one and she was super affordable. I bring that up because MOMOROSER has had a bit of controversy with stolen artwork. Their page on MFC has a warning due to this and there's several links to information regarding the entire thing. I debated for a while on whether or not I wanted to continue to review this figure despite learning this information after Aoi was bought, photographed, and was ready to go up. I decided that since there was an artist properly credited in relation to her, I would do it. However, I think people looking into buying from this company should be aware of the art theft. Not only are figures art, but the entire point of figures and anime merchandise at large is to support the IPs and studios these items are made from (Or last I checked, that's what it was.). To buy merch like this is to support artists. So it feels wrong to really promote a company that would harm an artist. Obviously, I can't tell people what to do. If you want to buy it, that's up to you. I'm just doing my part to inform people, or at least attempting to.

With that all said, let's get into this review.

Decorated photo of Aoi

Here's a full shot of Aoi. As you can tell, she's really big. I believe her price point was somewhere around 6800 JPY + shipping from Amiami, but it's been a few months, so don't quote me on that. Since she shipped in a larger order, I don't have exact prices on shipping, but she came out to around 40-45 USD or so after conversions. Not a bad price for a figure at all, especially one of this size.

Here's all the shots of Aoi's box. And I'm sure you can notice, she has like 3 different names. That's why I was confused on what her actual name is and am just opting to go with what's on MFC. I don't think she needs 3 different names, but that's what the company decied on I suppose. I imagine it makes it a bit harder to search for her if you ever want to find her, but I can't imagine there's a giant desire for this figure in particular, because I haven't really seen one brought up. That's beside the point though. The box is simple, but very large. So large that you can see past the fabric I laid out to take pictures with on the side there. But that aside, it's just... a box. Like I have no real thoughts on it. I think it's unique that a figure that's labeled as NSFW actually has a window, but considering she's not overly NSFW. Truth be told, outside of the fact that you can see cleavage, it barely registers as such. Like yes, her shirt is lifted up to expose her bra, but it barely feels like a bra at times and looks more like a swimsuit top simply because of the fact that it's not a sports bra. Well, that's besides the point. The window only shows her face anyways.

Blister Blister

Onto her blister. It's... its a blister all right. Truth be told, I always feel a bit dumb not including pictures of the blister just to show people how the figure was packaged, but there's really no commentary to give. The blister was pretty secure, there was the standard plastic waste sheets meant to protect from paint transfers during travel and that's really it.

Here's Aoi's 360 view. As you can tell, she looks pretty good from all angles. Assembly on her is also pretty straight forward. Place down the ball, then place her on the ball. You might have to stretch her foot a little to get it properly on the peg, but it's nothing too drastic. It's not like she's at risk of breaking or anything like that.

Closeup shot of Aoi

Well, time to move onto the close ups.

So... I'm sure you notice that pretty much most of the closeups are of her boobs. Why? Truthfully, I was trying to get better shots of her hair, but my phone doesn't have the greatest camera, so they just look like they're all boob pics. Whatever, I don't really mind that. In fact, I kind of like the body sculpt a lot more than the face sculpt which is honestly pretty unfortunate, but it's my biggest gripe with the figure. Like, I know that this figure is just an "OC Booba Figure" as most people would put it, but the fact you can't really see her face well kinda bums me out. And even moreso, it bums me out that the head just... doesn't feel like there's as much care put into it? Like the hair sculpt is pretty bad in my opinion, and the head looks almost out of place. Like it's too small for the body, and that just makes her feel a bit jarring at times. I tried as best as I could to get shots that focus in on stuff like how the hair fails to lay against the skin, making it look like it floating, ontop of it already looking kinda clumpy and weird, and I feel like I just failed to do so.

I also cannot help but feel like they skimped on all the details regarding the pants to focus on the boobs but IDK, I don't have the figure in front of me to judge as much, and black can be a bit harder to photograph when your camera is bad. I guess our tradeoff there is that for all the details lacking on the pants, they paid extra amount of details on the boobs.

Things I will praise with this figure is the sweat gimmick was done pretty nicely.

This base is huge, but I forgive it for committing to the bit. Not only does it look good with the mat being there, but the ball is just my favorite part. They went all out on this ball. Even the way it feels is accurate to an exercise ball. I honestly shouldn't be that excited over a small model of a giant shimmery purple exercise ball. But I am. 15/10 exercise ball model.

Another focus shot of Aoi

With all that out of the way, I'd say that this is just an okay figure overall. She's not particularly bad, but she's not great either. And considering the controversy with MOMOROSER and art theft, it feels kind of hard to want to recommend this figure. On one hand, she's not overly NSFW, but she's still risque enough to be sexy and not too bad to display. Her size is pretty good considering the price point--she's actually a straight up bargain, assuming you can get her for her initial price. I honestly wish they went a bit more in on the NSFW aspect of her, because she doesn't really stand out. Like, even as someone who doesn't even really collect NSFW figures, I can't help but find Aoi to be really lackluster. I also can't help but feel like a bit more attention to her face & hair would just generally help this figure go from "okay at best" to "pretty good."

The Positives

  • Very affordable for a scale figure.
  • The ball on the stand is very nice
  • Her size is huge, but not so big you struggle to display her. Very solid for a 1/6.

The Negatives

  • There's quite a bit of controversy surrounding MOMOROSER as a company, and it's understandable to not want to support that.
  • Pretty big box, which means shipping her might be a bit pricy.
  • The proportions regarding the head size generally feel really off. This is probably the most offputting thing about her.
  • The hair sculpt is straight up not good.
  • Just kind of a lackluster figure all around. Skimps on certain NSFW details that were present in the original art.

Obviously, I will not be buying this figure. Not just due to the controversy, but she just doesn't fit my collection.
