Hatsune Miku Fashion Series "Punk Ver." by TAITO

It's Miku time again. We're taking a look at another one of the Fashion Series prize figures. This time, it's the Punk one. This is another case of "It's not mine, it's my friend's," and while there's quite a few of those in store still, I'll be getting back to some of my stuff soon enough. Anyways, this figure was purchased off of Surugaya for 1130 yen, which is a little over 7 dollars currently. For that price, she's a steal. Too bad she was part of a decently sized proxy order and thus I don't have the shipping amount.

I will note that she has 2 different colorways: This original orange & black one, and an alternative white & green one. I'm unsure of the price of the other, as I don't tend to see it too much while looking, but I haven't really looked in depth either.

Anyways, carrying on. For her price point she's an incredibly nice figure. They did so well with this one. For such a cheap price, you could get something this nice? It's amazing.

Here's her box. This time, there was no typo lol. Either way, the box looks pretty good. No window, with just a few shots of the figure inside, and the illustration on the back. The top is very plain and just a glossy black.

Inside her box was a basic blister, with the stand taped onto the back. She has a large sheet of plastic draped around her to prevent paint transfers. The straps hanging off her outfit have pretty sturdy plastic placed around them to protect them that are fairly easy to remove, and easy to slip back on when packaging. They did a good job of keeping her safe.

360 view. This figure looks pretty good from most angles. Assembly on her is pretty simple and straight forward. You put her on her base, you stick her candy in, and you call it a day.

Closeup shot of Miku

Okay, time to start looking at the closeups. I guess I'll start with the obvious. While she lacks shading, as most prizes tend to do, she makes up for it by having pretty amazing texture work on her clothes. The fabric, zippers, and chains are all very well done.

A few more closeups of her. I really love the transparent hair. Honestly, it always looks so good on Miku figures. Another thing that really stands out to me is the way it flows in this figure.

Honestly, I think the only complaint I have with the figure has to do with the legs & shoes. The paint around her socks is very sloppy. In some parts, it doesn't completely fill the sock. On other parts, even though I didn't get a very good picture of it, there was a giant paint mark on her leg. Other than that, I'm not too keen on the choice of 2 different shoes. I think it'd be nicer if they used boots for both. It'd sell the "punk" look a bit more, in my opinion.

Her base is a simple black disk with a design on it. I don't have too many complaints. The design makes it not boring, while not being super overwhelming or alternatively underwhelming. Its not too big, so she's also not a space hog.

Everything aside, this is a really good figure for the price point. I imagine it's probably a bit more expensive once imported, but I don't think 25 or so would be a bad price for her at all.

The Positives

  • Very affordable
  • Texture on the clothes really makes the figure stand out.
  • Fragile parts were well protected within the packaging.
  • Very accurate to the original illustration

The Negatives

  • Like all prizes, she lacks shading
  • I haven't seen her very often state side, so might be annoying to get?
  • Had a few errors on her legs.

Honestly, I think if I had more space, I'd probably get this one for myself. I think the green & white palette looks pretty cool, so maybe I'll try for that at some point down the road.

Sorry this review was a bit short, I think I'm just tired lol. Maybe it's time for a mid day nap.
